Advice to Little Vee

Life seems lived best in hindsight!
Wouldn't it be nice though to have some insight to our future?  Someone to say ' yeah that's a dumb idea' or 'it will work out, don't give up'
There are many times in my life I could have used advice from Lady Vee!

So here's my advice to Little Vee, my younger self!
I really had to dig deep here to not sound 'cliche-ish'... honestly I think it may sound cliche no matter what! Here it goes....

1) Don't try and fit in!   I was going to type 'Just be you'.. Lol. The sentiment is true!  I find everyone is always trying to be like someone. If one person is doing something, we think we need to do it as well. When I was younger I always felt like I didn't fit in, and felt guilty for that. B I would tell little Vee that it's ok!  I don't need to be like everyone else!

2) Take it with a grain of salt!  You know those people who seem to never let anything bother them?  Um ya...so not me. I would tell my younger self not to take life so darn seriously!
Loosen up, relax, breath, life will keep going even if you screw up every now and again!

3)Read, read, read! Never stop reading! I loved reading as a child and teenager. Even in my early 20's. But somehow between children, marriage, church and life, I stopped. Reading is such a valuable habit to have and one I wish I had continued.  I would tell my younger self and older self now, read, read all you can!!

What are some of the lessons or things you would tell your younger self??

  1. Hmm... I would tell my little Cynthia to slow down.. Don't be in a hurry to grow up. enjoy the food that your parents buy. Enjoy the fact that they still buy everything for you. Enjoy your childhood innocent thought. Enjoy your innocent sheltered life.... Just Enjoy being a kid.

  2. I would tell my younger self to get as much sleep as you can! I'd also stress the need to stop trying to keep up with the Jones's!

    2. I would tell " Gaynel"(that's my pet name) to practice smiling more..don't be too serious...develop your gifts and talents and take advantage of every opportunity that you were priveleged enough to experience amidst being from a rural community.

  3. I would tell my young self to trust, trust, trust!!!. I had alot of friends but never felt I could trust for some reason.I would tell my "big self '' to trust as well, no matter how people disappoint you, there are people that won't, furthermore no one is perfect so you can't expect it, leave room for disappointment and a big heart to forgive.

    1. That's a good one. I didn't realize till I got older how things that happened to me when I was younger effected my trust of people

  4. Good read.. reminds me of things I used to hate to do as a little kid (like Tara said sleep early, not being able to fit in..) but I cherish today! I'd tell little me to not be afraid to make mistakes. Sometimes being a perfectionist can cause great harm, but overall we learn within the process of making mistakes!

  5. I would tell little Abby that she was enough and there is no need to overcompensate. I'd tell her that her worth wasn't defined by the scale or by the opinions of others. Most of all I'd tell her she had no price tag cause she is priceless. (Then I'd tell her to go to 31 Edgar Ave so she'd know this sooner.) I might also tell her some winning lottery numbers.
